How is the SAT Structured?
The Digital SAT is divided into two core sections: Reading & Writing and Math.
Both sections use multistage adaptive testing. Each section is split into 2 modules equal in length. How you perform on Module 1 determines whether Module 2 gives you a set of harder or easier questions, which heavily influences your final score ceiling.
1. Reading & Writing (R&W)
The Reading & Writing section consists of 54 total questions split across two 32-minute modules (64 minutes total). Passages are short, usually just one paragraph per question, and test four specific categories:

2. Math
The Math section features 44 total questions split across two 35-minute modules (70 minutes total). You can use a graphing calculator (built directly into the Bluebook testing app via Desmos, or your own approved physical calculator) on the entire Math section.
About 75% of the questions are multiple-choice, while 25% are student-produced responses (grid-ins).
